Cyphomandra betacea from Peru has tomato like edible red fruit and large downy leaves making it a bold plant for a jungle style garden. Quick growing from seed, plants can reach 5ft from an early sowing. Typically they fruit in their second year at about 6ft to 7ft in height if kept under glass and frost free during the winter.
