Red Tiger is a truly spectacular banana with distinctive red markings on the leaves - a selection of sikkimensis. It originates from the Himalayas at elevations of 6,000ft. It is root hardy although maybe not quite so hardy as the greener leaved forms. Overwinter frost free for the first 2 to 3 years and protect for the first winter when planted out. After that, can continue to protect each winter or mulch heavily as it will produce suckers when temperatures rise in Spring. Suckers can grow 6-8ft in one summer.
