Found from Southern Mexico to the southern parts of the US, Soncoya forms a small tree in it's native habitat and is grown primarily for it's spikey fruit which has orange flesh and is edible. Requires plenty of heat and a minimum of 10C in the winter months, so best grown in a heated greenhouse
or conservatory.
