Bean Asparagus Red Noodle is a highly sought after red version of the yard long bean. The young delicious pods are dark red, tender and have a thick meaty but crisp texture with a very small seed cavity. The plants grow vigorously given enough heat and produce lots of long beans over a long period. They will need a very hot sheltered spot outside but best grown under glass.

You can grow these tropical beans like runner beans starting off in small pots in late April before planting out after last frosts or grow in a greenhouse border. These tropical Asparagus Yard Long Beans need heat to do well though and a hot sheltered spot or preferably a greenhouse will give you the best results where they are very fast growing. This variety will produce pods from 15" to 36" long. Regular cropping required and pick the pods young. Please note that the plants do not like acid soil.

A bush plant grown like dwarf french beans and harvested when dried on the plant by the sun perhaps best grown in a polytunnel in the UK.

The black turtle bean is very easy to grow in a well-prepared soil, and they’re a fiber-packed, heart-healthy staple diet in many ethnic dishes. Grow just like dwarf beans although these grow to about 2ft tall and would benefit from some twigs or other supports as in growing peas. Leave in the sun to fully dry and only harvest once the beans turn black. Black beans are so versatile, you can enjoy them in many recipes in place of red or pinto beans. They’re great in chilis or stews, and are delicious in rice and bean recipes, as well as burritos and enchiladas. The Black Bean has lovely purple flowers.
