Dendroseris litoralis comes from the Juan Fernandez islands off the coast of Chile with temperatures typically 10C to 25C.  At one point there were only 3 plants left in the late 1980s, and today it is still endangered.  It is an evergreen, perennial species in the daisy and sunflower family.  It's unusual in that it has woody, tree-like stems, and rubbery, tennis racket-sized edible leaves (hence the common name) on plants up to 6ft tall.  Does not take anything more than a light frost, and does not enjoy very hot conditions.
