Allium christophii is the largest of all the ornamental onions, with a huge 12" spherical head consisting of 80 individual star like purple flowers on strong stems up to 60cm high. When they have finished flowering the seedheads can also be cut and dried for use in flower arrangements. Unlike many other varieties the strap like leaves remain in good condition while the plants flower and the flower heads last for weeks.
