Aristolochia gigantea or Giant Dutchman’s Pipe is a vigorous climber with remarkable, huge flowers up to 30 cm long and 15 cm wide. very similar to grandiflora but slightly smaller and less smelly! The pale bright green leaves are often heart-shaped and the flowers appear singly or in groups coloured a dark purplish red with cream-coloured veins.
This quick growing vine can climb 20 meters high in tropical conditions but can be kept back to a sensible size with careful pruning. Quite cool tolerant tough vine so suitable for a cool conservatory or greenhouse kept at above 10C in winter.
