Cyphomandra betacea from Peru has tomato like edible red fruit and large downy leaves making it a bold plant for a jungle style garden. Quick growing from seed, plants can reach 1.5m from an early sowing. Typically they fruit in their second year at about 2 metres in height if kept under glass and frost free during the winter.
