Lavatera arborea is an attractive short lived shrub and usually flowers the first year from seed. The woody stems can reach small tree like proportions to 6ft or more.. During summer and autumn clusters of 2" pink to red flowers appear all over the shrub. Plant in a warm sunny position with a well drained soil. Very fast growing attaining 6ft tall and 3ft across in the first year from seed! We find it hardy to about -8C Can be cut back in early spring.
