A tropical open woodland plant from Africa and Madagascar Sparmannia africana is grown for its large clusters of white flowers and large jungle style foliage. Used to be popular as a houseplant. Is hardier than would be expected. Best overwinter frost free - may survive outdoors in a sheltered spot in the milder parts of the UK.
