Hibiscus coccineus is a distinctly large red flowered Hibiscus on plants over 1.8m tall.  It is able to take some frost, but plants are then slower to get going the following spring and smaller, so best kept frost free.   It comes from the swamps of Florida and Louisiana, so prefers plenty of moisture and sun.
