A short lived perennial for a damp border, but with stunning 40cm columns of 5cm scarlet flowers in summer to early autumn. Lobelia cardinalis has tall 90cm stems of narrow often red/purple leaves which for example work well with gingers. Because of the short lived nature, best grown from seed every few years to keep a regular display.
