From wet woodland areas in the mountain ranges of South America. Has large umbrella like leaves which are palmately lobed, sometimes with red veins and can grow to over 1.5m wide, and are borne on red petioles. Produces striking red flower spikes which can be over 1m. Can be tricky from seed.
