From Central Madeira and very rare in the wild, a spectacular monocarpic plant that forms a rosette of very large broad serrated leaves before sending up a giant pyramidical inflorescence usually when 2 or 3 years old. Protect from frosts in the colder parts of the UK, can be left outside in a sheltered spot in milder microclimates. This is the yellow flowered form.
