Musa thompsonii, a subtropical species native to the Himalayas in Bhutan and northeastern India. Its pseudostems can reach a height of up to 4.5 m (15 ft.). The fruits are sweet but have seeds, but in any case at this height unlikely to fruit in the UK. Habit similar to Musa itinerans yunnan, slender with blue grey stems and a red flush to the reverse of new leaves. Will require winter protection.
