Musa laterita originates from Burma and India. It resembles Musa ornata in many aspects but growing habit is different as this plant produces long rhizomes and will grow more open than a clump of Musa ornata but contained if pot grown. Inflorescences are a brick-red or orange-bronze. Leaves light green, up to 1.5m long on a plant from 1.5-2m tall, so one of the smaller bananas to grow. Must be kept frost free.
