Asclepias curassavica or Scarlet milkweed, a native to South America, is an evergreen perennial sub-shrub, often grown as an annual in our climate. The bushy plants grow to around 1m tall with pretty orange and red flowers borne in terminal clusters that are 5-10cm across and loved by butterflies. It blooms continuously from spring until autumn. They like full sun to partial shade and tolerate both dry and wet conditions.
