The American persimmon, Diospyros virginiana is native to eastern North America. The small plum like fruits are sweet and edible when ripe. A small to medium sized tree to 18 metres with a round-topped crown of crooked branches and totally frost hardy. Seed grown plants produce both male and female trees.
