Wax Gourd, also called White Gourd and Tong Qwa, is a fast-growing, long-season, warm-climate vegetable. The plant grows like the pumpkin over the ground and can reach up to 20 kilograms in weight. Fruits can be stored in a cool place for months and used later in the winter season, Tong Qwa means "Winter Melon" in Chinese. In the UK best grown under glass or planted out in a very warm sunny position after starting off earlier in pots in heat.
