From Madagascar, this palm can be found at elevations of over 1,000m in its natural habitat.. It resembles a coconut palm in appearance but is more hardy, and is capable of taking some frost when a good size, so worth a try in milder microclimates in the UK - otherwise best kept under cover during the winter months.
