From the US, this variety of Sabal minor is, unsurprisingly, found in Louisiana. It differs from the pure form in having a large trunk which can reach 1.8m on plants over 3 metres tall. It is easily grown from seed as it germinates reasonably quickly as far as palms go but requires heat to grow really well. It is one of the cold hardiest palms taking temperatures when mature to below minus 15C.
